MarineGPT began with a simple observation: maritime professionals deserved better intelligence tools.
As someone deeply involved in maritime operations, I watched professionals struggle daily. Masters navigating complex regulatory frameworks without instant guidance. Port Managers making critical decisions with fragmented information. Cadets learning from outdated manuals while the industry evolved. Charterers analyzing contracts without real-time intelligence support.
The problem wasn't lack of data—it was lack of intelligence. Weather data existed, but not weather routing intelligence. AIS data was available, but not vessel behavior pattern analysis. Regulations were published, but not contextualized operational guidance.
Generic AI assistants couldn't help. They didn't understand SOLAS, couldn't interpret charter party clauses, had no concept of Great Circle distances, and lacked real maritime base rates for probability calibration. The maritime industry needed AI that understood the sea.
So I built it. Not as a generic chatbot with maritime data plugged in, but as a professional maritime intelligence platform from the ground up. Three specialized AI personas, each powered by frontier models (GPT-5 Mini for Expert, GPT-5 Nano for Professor and Copilot), equipped with real-time maritime data access, grounded in actual regulations and contracts, and calibrated with real maritime base rates.

Working in maritime operations, I noticed a critical gap: maritime professionals were drowning in data but starving for insights. Traditional tools provided information, but not intelligence. Building Three Personas
